Car Alarms
Many people like to get car alarms on their vehicles to keep them from being stolen. Others get them to show off. Im not sure how having car alarms might make someone look better in the eyes of others, but I have heard a few people admit they really dont need a car alarm, but they like that people think they need one. Whatever the case may be, they are out there, and you are bound to hear one just about every time you venture out to a shopping or entertainment venue.
The problem with most car alarms is that most of the time they go off for absolutely no reason. It happens all the time, and it might just be a form of torture for those who have to hear it. I heard them a lot when I lived in Pittsburgh, and sadly, it didnt stop once I moved a less densely populated area. There is some guy on my street that has an alarm on his car, and the thing goes off at all hours of the day. I really, really wish he would move, or at the very least do something about his overly touchy alarm.
Car alarms are meant to protect owners from car theft, but they are becoming less effective. Its not that the car alarms dont work as well as they used to, in fact they probably work better, its that they go off willy-nilly. The problem is that people hear a car alarm they groan and assume it was set off by accident. If you hear one in a parking lot, look around you. Most of the people in that lot keep walking without giving the car alarms they hear a second thought. If no one pays attention to car alarms, they really arent doing any good. A police officer may take notice, but they cant be everywhere at all times.
If you want to look at car alarms, make sure you get something that will not go off unless your car is truly in trouble. If you have one that goes off when someone touches any part of your car, you are getting yourself into trouble. Your alarm will go off so many times that even you wont think twice when your alarm goes off. Instead, look for car alarms that will go off when someone attempts to open a locked door, or perhaps if a window is broken.
