The Art Institute

It?s really too bad you can?t look into the future to see your mistakes before you make them. Although, to be fair, many of us wouldn?t change anything because even when things go wrong, you may end up on an even better path than where you started out to go. We only have one chance at this life we live, and there?s no possible way to go through life making the best decision at every turn. One of the best and worst things I ever did was go to the Art Institute for my education.

I had decided to go to the Art Institute of Pittsburgh for Music and Video Business. It was a great course, and I had a lot of fun there. Many relatives warned me that I wasn?t making the best decision about my future, but of course I wouldn?t listen. All I could think about was getting away from my stepfather and having a good time with my freedom. The Art Institute was just far enough away from home, and it promised to be a lot of fun.

I can?t really blame the Art Institute, but I can say they had a lot of problems. When I had a complaint, they really didn?t care. I lost out on some classes when the restructured their program, and they were not the least bit interested in helping me get them back. The Art Institute is most definitely a for profit school, and I knew they didn?t care as much because they already had my money. In the end, the only thing I got out of my education were some life lessons. The biggest one was that women have to fight ten times as hard to get involved in what I wanted to do, and apparently I was not strong enough to fight.

I did, however, meet my husband at the Art Institute. I often joke that my tuition paid for him because I got nothing else out of it. He wasn?t planned; though I don?t think any of us plan when we will fall in love. I always thought I would be single for a long time so I could do what I wanted with my life without having to think about someone else. I was just as wrong about that as I was about the Art Institute. In the end, even though that career didn?t pan out, that path led me to where I am right now, and I wouldn?t trade that for the world.
