When it comes to television commercials, you cannot please my husband. There is nothing he considers entertaining about a television commercial, and he will tell you about it every single chance he gets. He watches the Super Bowl commercials with much anticipation, because he says those are made to entertain. The rest of the television commercials you see throughout the year are just meant to annoy. They can be annoying, but they also serve a purpose, and are very effective. Perhaps that is why there are so many of them, and why so many companies produce them over and over again.
Television commercials use color, humor, and sometimes even scare tactics to get you to buy their product. Some try to use reason, but for the most part, they just want their name to stick in your mind. This works, probably far better than you realize. Television commercials not only make you remember you want a Big Mac; they let you know there is a new product out there that you must have. Not only that, they show you that if you drink a certain kind of beer, bikini clad babes will appear magically. Ok, we all know this isnt true, but some fall for it, even if not consciously.
If you own a business, television commercials might be your best friend if you can afford them. If you have a low budget for advertising, you will have to find an inexpensive way to produce and air your television commercials. If you put them on your local stations, and make them simple enough, you can afford them. Because television commercials are so effective, you almost cant afford not to use them. This is by far the most effective way to get your name and your business on everyones mind.
If you arent like my husband, and you enjoy television commercials, you dont have to wait for them to appear on your television. Believe it or not, there are websites out there that have your favorite television commercials sitting there, ready to be viewed. You may not find the newest ones, and not all will be available, but many have a great list from which to choose. If you like ads, and have a little time to waste, go give your favorite ads one more view. You can also find sites that have television commercials from other countries, and ones that are considered to risqu for American television.
