Ahh, the college years. Those were the days. Am I right about this one or what! Back in college I could take classes when I wanted, hang out with buddies when I pleased, go clubbing, and even skip class and responsibilities once in a while. Yep, that's teh life of champions. But wait, wasn't I broke as a joke back then? Oh yeah, now it's all flooding back to me. Sure college was a blast, but I think I enjoy life with an income a little more. I can still recall applying for those darn student loans each year. If I was smart back in high school, I would have strived for great grades and acquired a few American scholarships. Oh well, it's a bit late now. These days I'm just trying to get that student debt paid off.

Heading off to a University is a big step for anyone. Now, I'm not going to bash or downplay the experience any. After all, it's a fun and exciting one. It's a massive switch from living with the folks and following parental guidelines. On the other hand, it will cost you a ton. I don't even care if you're attending a fairly inexpensive University. I did this and it still ended up costing me around 12 grand a year. You can't just think of tuition and book costs. You also have to factor in your rent and food. Not to mention any fun things you're going to do on the weekends. Whatever you do, don't expect your part-time job to cover it all. Chances are it won't. This is why I'm here to tell you about American scholarships. If you attain good grades throughout high school and/or excel in a sport, you can often get awesome American scholarships. Hey, let me put this to you as blunt as I possibly can; you want these. They are your greatest source of funds in college, because you won't have to pay them back. The same goes for grants. Do a search on the web for any and ever grant or scholarship you can find. It's time to start applying. Those grants and American scholarships are going to get used by someone. It might as well be you, right?

Don't do the student loan thing unless it's absolutely necessary. Myself and many others I know did this, because we had to, but we're still paying them back years later. Acquire American scholarships and state grants that you won't have to grapple with in the future. There will be plenty of other debt to worry about down the road.
