Child Learning Disabilities

Though learning was always easy for me, I did have some friends who were dealing with child learning disabilities. Most of these were mild cases, but there are some children who have severe problems, and many times these problems go unnoticed. These children are often labeled as problem children and are disciplined as such. They never have a fair chance because they are hindered by a disability that labels them as trouble makers rather than just children who need extra help with their studies.

One of the most common child learning disabilities is ADHD. Though this was something that has only be recently recognized and accepted, it has been around for a long time. My oldest brother had it, and he was labeled as a trouble maker, and eventually kicked out of school. My brother was a good kid, but this most frightening of the child learning disabilities gave him nothing but problems. Though he was simply trying to overcome what was ahead of him, he was seen as someone who was labeled as ?un-teachable.?

I am ashamed of that school district, and I know I will never send my children there. My mother went in numerous times to talk about these child learning disabilities but no one wanted to hear it. They thought there were right, and there was nothing you could do to change their mind. I wish my mother had a mind to raise a bigger fuss back then, as perhaps that would have made them take a second look at what they were doing. Had they considered that he might really have one of the child learning disabilities that are out there, he may have been able to get help, and his life might be better today.

If you suspect that your child is acting up in class for reasons that you can?t understand, you may want to see if they have any child learning disabilities. There are many times when kids get into trouble, and it is not because they are bad, it is because they can?t keep up, they can?t see the chalkboard, or they may even be having hearing problems. They may also have ADHD, or perhaps they have one of the many other child learning disabilities out there. There is usually a very common reason for disruptive behavior, and if more parents and children would take the time to find out, there would be many more children graduating from high school.
